Greg Chambers
ArtistGreg Chambers is a Brisbane-based painter whose life has moved from computers and sky to colour and canvas. For forty years he worked in the computer industry in Melbourne, as well as an aerobatics pilot, skydiving instructor and professional display jumper. After moving north with his wife Susy and later being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Greg reshaped his days and nights around painting, developing a nocturnal rhythm that often carries him through to dawn.
About their work
Greg Chambers’ paintings are vibrant, energetic “landscapes of the mind” that burst with colour, texture and a distinctly cheeky sense of humour. Working primarily in acrylics with bold palette-knife marks, he builds layered surfaces where snippets of bright colour jostle and collide, suggesting shifting terrains, weather, creatures and half-remembered places all at once. Humour is one of the clearest entry points into Chambers’ work, especially through his titles, which twist a scene or mood in an unexpected, playful direction. Across his practice, colour, movement and titles work together to reflect Chambers himself: curious, upbeat and resilient.
