Julian Pereira
ArtistJulian Pereira is an Australian artist and designer whose work explores accessibility, inclusion, and public space. He holds a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Sydney (2015). Drawing on a background in architecture and lived experience with disability, he creates sculptural works that transform familiar objects into compelling visual experiences. He has exhibited at major public exhibitions including Sculpture by the Sea Cottesloe 2026, Sculpture by the Sea Bondi 2024, Vivid Sydney 2022, and Sculpture at Scenic World 2017.
About their work
The Thinker (2024): In this age where people with disabilities are becoming more empowered, this once dynamic symbol has been stopped in its tracks as it contemplates how to overcome the obstacles ahead. Crosswalk this Way (2022): using a familiar pedestrian crossing light, we reimagined the “don’t walk / walk” instructions to introduce new suggestions, an invitation to play up, have fun and be human. Dazzled (2017): inspired by lying in a tent at night listening to the sounds of the bush, pulling the sounds apart and letting them create shapes and patterns in the mind.
